The Welders are responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality and in a professional manner.

High School diploma or equivalent education. Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with at least two years being NAVSEA-related experience. Possesses standard tools for a welder. Able to work different shifts. Must have good knowledge of ship board spaces. Must have knowledge of weld symbols and general DWGs.

Must pass FCAW, 2G, 3G & 4G 71T1.045 wire. Must pass SMAW, 6G Pipe, 11018 "stick". Must pass SMAW, 6G Pipe, 309 "stick". Must pass GMAW, 2G, 3G & 4G aluminum 5000 & 6000 series. Must pass GTAW, 2G, 3G & 4G aluminum 5000 & 6000 series. Must pass GTAW, 4F & 5F RN67(CUNI). Must pass GTAW, 4F & 5F 316 (Stainless Steel).

Must pass GTAW, 4F & 5F 70S2 (Carbon Steel). Must pass GTAW, 6G RN625 on Carbon Steel pipe (open root). Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to safely hook up and operate a torch. Must have knowledge of WAFs Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others. Ability to gain access to local bases.

Physical requirements include carrying, lifting, walking, climbing, pulling, crawling, sitting, visual requirements, stooping, kneeling, talking. Must be able to pass a Standard Jaeger's Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishihara's Tests for Color Deficiency.

This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Welders and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.

Principal responsibilities include assuring that tank/compartment has an updated safe for hot work ticket and the requirements of the ticket have been met, assuring that conditions of the tank/compartment have not changed since the ticket was written, assuring that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished, assuring that any other safety issues are complied with that relate to the specific job being accomplished, assuring that you are trained or qualified for the work you are assigned to do, assuring that General Dynamics-NASSCO's Safety Procedures, including testing, are utilized for all torch work, assuring that you and personnel working under your direction are working as safely and as productively as possible maintaining quality control at all times, assuring that a 30-minute cool down period has been accomplished in hot work areas, assuring that fire watches are assigned and maintained in the proper position, assuring that the job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure, assuring that personnel have work package and the necessary drawings, technical manuals, or specifications required for them to adequately accomplish their work assignments.

Accountability includes responsible for effective, efficient and safe accomplishment of all assigned tasks. This position reports to Weld Crew Leader, Foreman, and General Foreman.

Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Must have dependable transportation. Weekend work and/or extended hours may be required. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.

Pay Range: $29.61 - $38.87 per hour. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity. At NASSCO Bremerton we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of salary range.

Offers will be based on experience, abilities, and knowledge similar to the NASSCO Job being applied for NASSCO employees performing similar work.

NASSCO employees performing similar work will receive a 6% match on a 6% enrollment election. Additionally, we offer tuition and training reimbursement(s).
