Job Description

St. Mary Catholic School, Bethel is seeking a highly effective, experienced, and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher for the  school year. The successful candidate will possess strong content knowledge in mathematics and a proven ability to engage middle school learners in rigorous, standards-based instruction.

The teacher will be responsible for creating a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, while also supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality mathematics instruction for students in Grades 6-8 (courses may include Math 6, Math 7, Pre-Algebra, and/or Algebra I)

* Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans

* Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

* Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction

* Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning

* Integrate technology and real-world applications into math instruction

* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

* Collaborate with faculty and administration in support of student achievement

* Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives

* Support the Catholic identity of the school through participation in liturgies, prayer, and service activities

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master's preferred)

* Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing

* Valid Connecticut teaching certification (or eligibility) in Mathematics or Middle School Education

* Minimum of 2-5 years of successful middle school math teaching experience strongly preferred

* Strong background in middle school math curriculum and best instructional practices

* Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and use data to drive student achievement

* Effective classroom management skills

* Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

* Proficiency with educational technology
