Essential Duties & Responsibilities
General description of main/primary duties and responsibilities of the job, aptitude, level of complexity, span of control, autonomy, decision making and judgement. It is central and necessary to the satisfactory performance of the job. Includes the following and other duties as assigned:
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow all Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) policies, procedures and requirements to ensure personal safety, safety of others and safety of the surrounding area.
- With supervision, perform skilled mechanical duties involving operations to accomplish routine and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair minor maintenance issues and assist with major maintenance issues, i.e., natural gas engines, compressors, generators and other power‑driven equipment.
- Inspect gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure equipment is operating safely and properly.
- Maintain inventory control by managing the supply, storage and accessibility of parts and tools to ensure an adequate supply is in place to perform work for assigned units.
- Perform scheduled preventative and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression units.
- Submit accurate maintenance reports, work orders, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork on a daily basis.
- Conduct work in a professional manner at all times and provide excellent customer service to the upstream business unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of Industrial Mechanic experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience with large and small compressors and engines, such as natural gas‑fired engines and reciprocating compressors.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic and electric starters, fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, ignition systems and other compression‑related anatomy.
- Basic electrical, mechanical and computer knowledge.
- Understand the basic operations of production, such as separators, dehydration units, etc.
- Knowledge of Waukesha VHPs, Ariel and Caterpillar equipment.
- Good knowledge of hazards and safety details on site.
- Ability to develop basic fundamental knowledge of rotary screw and reciprocating compression, electric motor‑driven compression, gas engine‑driven compression, shutdown panel operation and related monitoring devices.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc., and use/operation of standard office equipment.
- Ability to work in a team environment focusing on teamwork and unity.
- Ability to receive and follow instructions to develop basic troubleshooting skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, elevated organizational skills and self‑motivation, with ability to accomplish multiple tasks at a high level.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment and tools.
- Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meets Company’s insurance qualifications to operate a company vehicle.
- Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

Field Related- Exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi‑line telephone system.
- Extreme cold and heat: temperatures typically below 32 °F or above 100 °F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions as wind, rain, snow, and humidity.
- Noise: sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
