We have an exciting opportunity for an EHS Leader supporting our IRP/MP/OB business based in Alsip, IL. In this role, the Safety Leader ensures compliance with regulations and policies, provides leadership and guidance on EHS programs, and conducts audits to ensure company and regulatory standards are met.
We are seeking a hands‑on Safety Leader who partners closely with operations to embed safety into daily work and address issues independently. This is not an advisory role—you will be highly visible on the floor and fully accountable for owning and driving the safety program end to end.
- Builds positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the site in creation of a zero‑incident culture.
- Establishes a behavior‑based safety culture by coaching a team of supervisors and employees in promoting safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management.
- Establishes and leads a safety committee.
- Provides leadership, cohesiveness, and vision in the plant for all EHS and sustainability‑related matters.
- Develops and manages EHS training for the plant, including minimum requirements, programs, and policies, and provides EHS PPE.
- Manages the safety data sheet and new chemical request process and regulated reporting (TIER 2, TRI, etc.).
- Establishes and maintains facility‑specific management plans for environment: air, water, waste (hazardous and non‑hazardous materials).
- Implements applicable EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes in compliance with Ingersoll Rand 37 standard works requirements; local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Completes risk assessments and recommends control measures for all potential areas of concern.
- Leads incident and near miss reporting. Performs root cause analysis on incidents and injuries.
- Oversees workers' compensation program administration, including working with all parties to manage and support transitional/accommodated duty and return to work programs.
- Builds an efficient management of change program and evaluates non‑standard tasks to uncover risks and identify corrective actions.
- Builds and manages a contractor management and visitor security/safety program.
- Ensures machine safety by upgrading and assessing equipment safety in addition to participating in the ergonomic evaluation for the site.
- Oversees the facility emergency response team to ensure appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
- Ensures drills and equipment are in a ready state and effective communication of responsibilities to personnel.
- Leads and coordinates efforts in continuous process improvement and lean management.
- Owns data entry/reporting and uses established tools & processes to ensure data accuracy, analyzes trends, and delivers reports in a timely manner including incident reporting, auditing, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items, and other pertinent information.
- Develops a path to our 2030‑2050 sustainability goals for the plant/BU.
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- 7+ years demonstrated proficiency in occupational safety, environmental reporting, and regulations.
