MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST (Electrical)

$20.00-$22.00/hour

Temporary/Seasonal Year‑Round;

35-55+ hr/week (based on greenhouse needs). Schedules 5-6 days per week. All candidates must have Saturday & Sunday availability.

Maintenance Supervisor (Demetrio)

There are usually 3–4 Maintenance Specialists within the North facility with varying responsibilities. As of July 6, 2026, there are 3 Maintenance Specialists at the North Facility. Management may interview for an additional Maintenance Specialist position, but only if candidates have electrical experience.

The position would be an equivalent of a Entry‑Level/Level 1 Electrician (with 1–3 years experience completing basic electrical installations, repairs, wiring support, lighting tasks, and general maintenance with limited supervision). Licensing/certification is preferred but not required for the role, as Master Electrician level work is performed by a third‑party electric company.

Maintenance Specialists perform routine and preventative maintenance as well as installations and repairs within the greenhouse. They may be asked to lead a group of general staff and maintenance workers on specific projects or take on additional responsibilities to ensure greenhouse facilities are ready to produce the highest quality of plants and assure timely and quality delivery of product to our customers and clients.

Because of the nature of our business, plants must always be in controlled environments. Therefore, the Maintenance Specialists may be assigned work during non‑business hours, including at night. (Schedules may be subject to change with 24‑hour notice). Additional working hours may be offered during maintenance emergencies. To be eligible for hours during maintenance emergencies, it is preferred that candidates live within 30 minutes of travel time to the greenhouse or closer (but not required).

An ideal candidate for the Maintenance Specialist position would have at least 3–5 years of relevant experience and meet the skill/experience requirements in at least one of the five critical maintenance areas. An ideal candidate follows instructions and collaborates both with the maintenance team and other greenhouse departments. Candidates with proven communication skills and the ability to be respectful and resolve problems efficiently are preferred.

Experience with English and Spanish speakers or fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.

• Follow instructions in a way that produces high‑quality work in an effective and timely manner. Communicate progress at intervals to the Maintenance Supervisor and notify the supervisor if work cannot be completed within a projected timeframe.
• Assist and perform equipment maintenance on greenhouse technology and systems including greenhouse structures, work areas, heating systems, cooling systems, irrigation systems, growing equipment, electrical systems, guest worker housing, and general grounds.
• Assist and perform installations, maintenance/repairs, or construction tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform preventative maintenance procedures on a scheduled basis, including cleaning, testing, treating, and calibrating per Maintenance Manager instructions.
• Maintain and utilize maintenance equipment and safety gear.
• Inspect properties and communicate with the Maintenance Manager regarding proper grounds keeping, general cleanup, and maintenance.

In addition to the above responsibilities, a Maintenance Worker will be required to assist with various projects around the greenhouse as needed. At times, they will be expected to assist with greenhouse labor as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.

Maintenance Specialists assist with a variety of projects assigned by the supervisor/manager based on the needs of the facility and may be accountable for tasks completed independently without direct supervision.
