Summary: Performs outside maintenance and maintains the grounds.

Scope Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.

Completes assignments daily.

Proposes improvements to processes.

Works autonomously within established procedures and practices.

• Under minimal supervision, maintains the outside of the facilities.
• Make sure all lawns, grounds and flower beds are maintained to Whelen standards.
• Adapts to new procedures, techniques, tools, material and or equipment to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
• Relies on experience and judgment to accomplish assigned tasks and goals with other grounds personnel.
• Mows and dresses up the Whelen property.
• Repairs all gardens so they look the best they can.
• Ability to work under presser and to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a cooperative working relationship with employees and supervisors.
• Run equipment that you are qualified on with care.
• Remove snow and maintain a safe working environment.
• Work with the JIRA system to ensure everything is documented.

• 3 years’ experience landscaping.
• High School w/3+ years’ experience.

• Able to lift 35 pounds.
• Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
• Able to stand for entire shift.

• Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.
• Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
• Attend scheduled EH&S training program.
• Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
• Recommend improved EH&S practices.

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties. This ability to communicate requires the employee to be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
