ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISOR
DEPARTMENTCUSTODIAL- CHMS
REPORTS TOBUILDING PRINCIPAL/DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES
SUMMARYKeeps the district's school buildings in an operating state that presents no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Instruct custodians verbally and in writing on custodial and routine maintenance activities.
- Assist with setup and clean‑up of cafeteria program.
- Assist maintenance supervisor with scheduling and assigning extra time for custodians.
- Maintain inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Clean and preserve designated spaces and equipment within the building.
- Perform ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, custodial equipment, ventilation, building structure and hardware.
- Assist visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions and obtaining/set‑up needed equipment.
- Mow grass, shovel snow, and maintain grounds and equipment.
- Maintain building and grounds security.
- Maintain work‑related records and prepare various reports as directed.
- Perform supervisory duties and coordinate all job functions with Building Supervisor.
- Major building problems should be reported to Building Supervisor or Building Principal.
- Perform all other duties as prescribed by the immediate supervisor.
- Substitute for building supervisor on short‑term and long‑term basis.
- Work before or after regular shift or during emergencies, as required.
- Work closely with school administrators.
Custodial staff within the building.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo successfully perform this job, an individual must meet the following criteria.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or GED preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups and other employees.
- Add and subtract two‑digit numbers; multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
- Perform these operations using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Basic knowledge and experience with job‑related computer hardware and software applications.
- Solve practical problems and deal with variable situations lacking extensive standardization.
- Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, sit, squat, stoop, kneel, bend, and twist at the neck and trunk.
- Lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds; lift heavier items with assistance; push/pull items such as tables and bleachers.
- Use hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders.
- Adjust vision for close, color, peripheral, depth, and focus.
- Indoors and outdoors; near moving mechanical equipment.
- Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- Moderate noise level.
2:30 pm to 11:00 pm – 8 hours per day.
SALARYAs per negotiated contract.
