Assumption Church-School-Parish is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Full-Time Custodian / Maintenance team member to help maintain clean, safe, welcoming, and functional spaces throughout the parish, school, church, and campus. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Custodian / Maintenance team member will perform custodial care, general maintenance, groundskeeping, event setup, and light repairs. This position plays an important role in supporting the parish community and creating an environment where parishioners, students, staff, and visitors can worship, learn, and grow in faith.

• Perform assigned custodial duties throughout the church, school, and parish facilities.
• Maintain clean, orderly, and welcoming spaces for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility needs.
• Assist the Director of Maintenance with general maintenance and repair projects.

• Perform light maintenance and repairs as needed, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and painting.
• Assist with routine upkeep and maintenance of parish facilities.
• Identify facility issues and communicate maintenance needs to the Director of Maintenance.

• Maintain the appearance and safety of parish grounds.
• Assist with landscaping and seasonal grounds maintenance.
• Remove litter and debris from campus areas.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, and other designated areas as needed.
• Work indoors and outdoors throughout changing seasonal conditions.
• Be available for snow removal and other weather-related grounds needs, which may occur at any time.
• Work some overtime, including early mornings, late afternoons/evenings, and weekends, as needed.

• Assist with room setup and teardown for parish events, meetings, and special functions.
• Move furniture, tables, chairs, equipment, and other materials as needed.
• Provide facility support for parish activities and events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Maintenance.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dependable and service-oriented approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to respond to facility needs and on-call weekend responsibilities.
• Successful completion of required background check.
• Participation in the Diocesan VIRTUS program.

• One to three years of custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or facilities experience.
• General knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
• Experience working with tools and maintenance equipment.

This position involves regular and rigorous physical activity. Candidates must be able to:

• Safely lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Bend, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
• Navigate confined mechanical spaces.
• Move furniture, tables, chairs, and equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of seasonal weather conditions.
• Perform snow and ice removal and other physically demanding grounds work.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with flexible availability required to meet parish and facility needs. Available schedules include:

• 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
• On-call weekend availability is required. Some overtime, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, may be necessary based on parish and facility needs.

The Custodian / Maintenance position supports the mission of Assumption Church-School-Parish by ensuring that parish, school, church, and campus facilities are clean, safe, attractive, and ready to serve the community. This position contributes to an environment where parishioners, students, staff, and visitors can worship, learn, participate in parish activities, and grow in faith.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
