Job Function:Responsible for the development, administration, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of Bradford's environmental, health, safety, and security compliance programs and related training programs and initiatives for the Company's Parkes (liquid & hot pour) and Wireton (aerosol) facilities in Illinois. Partners with corporate EHS&S, Human Resources, and site leadership to maintain compliance in environmental, Workers' Compensation, and Return to Work areas as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide input to Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Security policies, and ensure they are communicated and understood across both Illinois sites (Broadview and Blue Island).
  • Provide input to annual EHS&S objectives. Communicate and monitor progress against objectives at both Illinois sites.
  • Keep abreast of new and changing federal, State of Illinois, and industry EHS requirements (including changes to environmental legislation impacting the Broadview and Blue Island facilities). Communicate and ensure understanding of these requirements at both sites.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs for both Illinois sites, including air, water, and waste permits, monitoring, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting (e.g., U.S. EPA, Illinois EPA).
  • Serve as the primary site contact for environmental regulatory agencies and inspections at both facilities and coordinate any required corrective actions.
  • Ensure that there are adequate documented EHS and Security processes and procedures in place to address the activities of both sites.
  • Ensure both sites are familiar with the requirements of the EHS and Security policies and that EHS and Security improvement plans exist to improve overall EHS and Security performance.
  • Liaise as appropriate with Customers, Regulatory Authorities and other 3rd Parties in matters relating to EHS and Security performance.
  • Oversee the security function at both Illinois locations and ensure that written security guard orders exist, are being followed and adhered to.
  • Provide EHS and Security input to the VP Operations, Illinois and other internal groups as needed.
  • Ensure that all accidents and environmental incidents are timely reported, timely investigated, and timely analyzed in order that the sites can learn from their experiences.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate management system to ensure that both sites are operating in line with specified Company, Regulatory (including environmental), and Customer EHS and Security requirements.
  • Ensure that adequate EHS, environmental, and Security records are maintained for both sites.
  • Review and disseminate relevant EHS, environmental, and Security data / information to site and corporate leadership.
  • Maintain corporate intranet website and Bradford Connect application content for the EHS and Security portal as it relates to the Illinois sites.
  • Provide/facilitate all EHS and Security training for both sites, via online training tools, classroom and/or hands-on sessions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop and implement EHS and Security Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for both Illinois sites.
  • Manage the online website and/or Bradford Connect application for the maintenance of all SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for both sites.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Three or more years of experience developing/executing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting EHS programs across more than one site preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental, health and safety regulations – OSHA, U.S. EPA, Illinois EPA, and others
  • Must have strong project/program management, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English speaking strongly preferred.
