Retail & Store Manager, Customer Service Rep
Position Summary
Support the service and tire team under the direction of the Manager, Store Service. Assist in driving sales across service labor, parts, tires, and fleet business and provide essential selling and task support by partnering with management to ensure that the service repair business is organized, store operations run efficiently, and shop productivity is maintained to company standards.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist with customer care, work order and register assistance, facility maintenance, and merchandising activities, including tire stocking.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and follow housekeeping standards per SSC direction.
- Follow all POS, inventory, cash, credit, check, refund, and return policies, and manage procurement and vendor payment practices.
- Work with management to address customer service issues, complaints, and business opportunities.
- Drive sales goals for the service center through personal customer engagement and coaching of advisors.
- Assist the Store Manager in training and coaching associates on the Pep Boys Customer Care Process, Courtesy Vehicle Inspections (CVIs), and store systems; perform CVIs and related tasks as directed.
- Monitor shop productivity, workflow, and procedures, focusing on efficiency, thoroughness, and safety; support daily back‑shop operations.
- Partner with management to maintain a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with all laws and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with store associates, management, and customers.
- Act as the primary supervisor in the absence of management, coordinating operational activities.
- Serve as key holder and manage opening and closing responsibilities.
- Maintain an organized and neat shop.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety, and environmental rules.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience in an automotive service environment.
- One year of automotive service sales experience preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Basic knowledge of mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions) to calculate commissions and discounts.
- Experience as a work lead or supervisor.
- Ability to exercise judgment and work independently.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations.
- Comfortable with up‑sell techniques.
- Strong cash handling skills, including use of POS systems.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated consistency, accuracy, and follow‑through.
- Ability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
