Father Bill’s & Main Spring is committed to ending and preventing homelessness in Southern Massachusetts with programs that provide emergency and permanent housing and help people obtain skills, jobs, housing, and services. We help people who are struggling with homelessness or are at risk of homelessness to achieve self‑sufficiency.
Father Bill’s & Main Spring is a growing and dynamic social service agency with particular expertise in emergency and permanent housing, job training and placement, and prevention services for individuals and families in need. Over the next five years, our strategic focus includes an increase in affordable, permanent supportive housing, a more efficient model of care for families experiencing homelessness, commitment to an enhanced delivery model to reduce the need for shelter, and improved community relations in order to achieve these goals.

Position SummaryThe environmental specialist is responsible for the internal and external upkeep and cleanliness of assigned Father Bill’s & Main Spring owned or operated properties throughout the south shore. The environmental specialist maintains safe and hazard‑free living and working conditions in all buildings. This is a Full‑time/40 hours per week position reporting to the Facilities Manager. 1+ years of experience in property upkeep preferred.
Responsibilities- Perform a range of housekeeping duties to maintain a clean interior and exterior environment throughout assigned properties.
- Report hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Manager for immediate resolution.
- Maintain daily cleaning of assigned properties.
- Ensure the availability of clean linens through washing, drying and folding linens as assigned.
- Basic tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, polishing, dusting, and cleansing of any and all designated objects or areas.
- Operate vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, buffers and wall washing equipment including any other power machinery as instructed.
- Maintain stock of all housekeeping supplies, keep housekeeping closets and equipment organized.
- Perform daily floor care maintenance.
- Set up and clean meeting rooms.
- Collect and dispose of trash and waste (both infectious and non‑infectious) as needed.
- Cleans, disinfects and sanitizes items such as bathroom sinks, floor, and shower (if applicable); fill soap dispensers and paper towel and tissue dispensers.
- Communicate to supervisor any repairs needed and submit appropriate work orders.
