Job Summary
The Salvation Army’s Brockton Corps is hiring a Custodian. Part‑time employees (20 hours per week) earn $15.30–$21.42 per hour, based on experience. The role supports maintenance and the food pantry.

Hours / Exemption20 hours per week, Non‑exempt.
Duties & Responsibilities- Empty all trash receptacles daily throughout the building.
- Clean and disinfect all areas of the facility; restock toilet paper, soap, and paper towels as needed.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of custodial supplies and notify the supervisor in advance when items need to be reordered.
- Drive to GBFB and pick up food orders.
- Keep the pantry and storage areas clean by sweeping and mopping regularly, especially after deliveries are put away.
- Clean and maintain building grounds.
- Ensure vacuum cleaners remain in working condition; report any needed repairs to the supervisor immediately.
- Install bulletin boards, pictures, and similar items as directed by the supervisor.
- Complete required 12‑passenger van training and maintain the necessary knowledge to safely operate and care for the vehicle.
- Clean vehicles inside and out.
- Operate The Salvation Army vehicle for pick‑up and delivery tasks, as needed.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for special events and trainings.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Report any unsafe working conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain positive working relationships with other staff, suppliers, vendors, and professionals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: High School Graduate preferred.
Experience: Minimum one year in custodial work.
Other Qualifications- Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a 12‑passenger cargo/transport van, including passing the required driving test.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a clean and well‑cared‑for facility.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capable of reading and understanding safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals.
- Able to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Possesses working knowledge of custodial equipment and tools.
- Adheres to all safety standards and procedures related to custodial work.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Contributes to a positive, supportive work environment and maintains a professional attitude.
- Demonstrates strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and judgment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.

Essential Physical Tasks- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as reference materials, files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
- Load and change settings, devices, fixtures on various equipment used in and around an office environment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
