Specific Responsibilities:
- Assists with the maintenance of the buildings and grounds.
- Performs minor repairs as needed or requested.
- Responsible for heavy cleaning on a fixed schedule.
- Assists with moving furniture, etc. as needed.
- Participates in waxing and buffing floors, stairs, and hallways on a regular schedule.
- Completes major cleaning on a regular schedule.
- Builds/plans adaptive equipment as requested.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Supervise the Maintenance Department and workers, interview and recommend staff for hire, conduct regular supervisions, complete initial and annual evaluations, and counsel and discipline employees, as necessary.
- Maintain the grounds; prune trees and shrubs; maintain lawn; clear brush, etc., as required.
- Maintain equipment utilizing preventive maintenance standards to ensure all equipment is in good condition.
- Participate in training to understand and serve the children who reside in the program, including, but not limited to, SCIP-R certification, Individual Rights, Mandated Reporter, code of Ethics, Incident Reporting, Abuse, and Abuse Prevention, and in-service on the individuals' treatment plans.
- Oversight of Security personnel on-site, overseeing operation of all security systems, liaison with security contractors.
- In the absence of the buildings operations manager serve as acting leader
- Other duties as requested upon program leadership.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Work may require use of ladders, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and varying indoor/outdoor temperatures.
- Must be able to work in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices, mechanical rooms, and outdoor areas.
- May be required to respond to urgent maintenance needs, spills, leaks, safety concerns, or building emergencies.
- Must be able to work around children, staff, visitors, and program participants in a safe and professional manner.
- May be required to shovel snow, salt walkways, remove debris, and maintain exterior grounds.
- Must follow all safety procedures, fire safety requirements, and agency policies.
- May require flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or emergency coverage as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED.
- Knowledge of repairs and maintenance needed for institutional settings.
- Knowledge of general rules and regulations pertaining to health, safety, and fire codes.
- Ability to handle emergencies in a professional manner.
