Schedule:

Tuesday–Saturday, 10 AM–6 PM.

General

Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for daily clinical operations on the unit, ensuring high‑quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective team coordination. This role serves as a guide, mentor, and resource to residents and co‑workers, while supporting interdisciplinary collaboration and safe care transitions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports the Mission, Values, and Vision of Cantata Adult Life Services and the facility.
  • Supports, cooperates with specific procedures and programs for safety, including universal precautions, fire/safety plans, risk management, and security.
  • Confidentiality of all client, employee, partner, and operational data.
  • Quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
Essential Duties
  • Provides Quality Nursing Care to clients in an environment which promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality.
  • Directly and supervise CNA staff during assigned shift.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high‑quality, person‑centered care.
  • Conduct rounds to monitor resident status, safety, and care delivery.
  • Serve as primary clinical decision‑maker in the absence of management.
  • Respond to changes in resident condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Provide real‑time coaching, guidance, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
  • Support orientation and training of new staff.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Perform routine nursing tasks including medication administration and prescribed treatments according to care plans.
  • Coordinate shift‑to‑shift communication of significant/required nursing information using established procedures and forms.
  • Ensure sufficient supplies and equipment for patient care.
  • Make written and oral reports to physicians, pharmacists, therapists, and other licensed providers to enable proper follow‑through of orders and coordination of care services.
Resident Care & ADLs
  • Provides individualized attention to encourage each client’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being.
  • Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for clients and provides support accordingly.
  • Assists with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, and range of motion; applies creams/ointments; administers medications; and performs other needs in keeping with client care requirements.
  • Supports restorative care and maintains resident comfort, privacy, dignity, and independence.
  • Interacts with clients in a warm, compassionate manner that fosters a caring, homelike environment.
  • Fully understands all aspects of client rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse, and reports incidents promptly.
  • Answers client call lights promptly and courteously.
  • Provides care that maintains each client’s skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears, and other damage by changing incontinent clients, turning, repositioning immobile clients, and applying moisturizers to fragile skin.
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Observe clients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
  • Monitor residents for safety risks (falls, skin breakdown, changes in behavior or cognition).
  • Communicate unit updates, concerns, and priorities to the NP and DON.
Documentation
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the EMR (e.g., Matrix‑Care).
