2nd Shift Custodian

Overview

The Brooklyn Center Community School (BCCS) District is seeking applicants for 2nd Shift Custodian. A custodian performs intermediate semiskilled trades work cleaning and maintaining the school building interiors and exteriors, and participates in operations and security of the facility. Maintains a clean, sanitary environment for staff, students and the public. The current vacancy is at the Elementary Building.

• Perform intermediate semiskilled trades work to clean and maintain school interiors and exteriors.
• Participate in operations and security of the facility.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary environment for staff, students and the public to work, learn and enjoy.
• Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing and able to complete the required Health and Safety training curriculum within a specified time frame.
• Verbal communication skills to interact with building users and fellow employees; written communication skills to leave correspondence with day staff if problems arise or repairs are needed.
• Basic skills to determine dilution ratios and convert ounces to gallons.
• Ability to estimate time required to perform tasks and determine whether requests can be completed by the evening staff or deferred; ability to reason with building users to enhance public relations.
• Regular and prompt attendance to ensure readiness of the school building for student learning.
• Special Engineer license.

• Step 1 - $19.50/hour
• Step 2 - $20.50/hour
• Step 3 - $21.91/hour
• Step 4 - $23.29/hour
• Step 5 - $24.70/hour

• Duty Days: 260/12 months
• Shifts:
  
  Second shift during the school year (2:30–11:00 PM); summer and school breaks use first shift hours
