Maintenance Associate
Job Summary:
The school maintenance associate is responsible for ensuring that LEEP Dual Language Academy's standard for cleanliness, repair, and aesthetic appearance are met. They are responsible for both directly cleaning the building to keep the facility and its surroundings at the highest level of cleanliness. Additionally, the maintenance associate handles small maintenance tasks and repairs, and is responsible for notifying and coordinating with the Maintenance Manager and escalating issues to the Operations Manager and Director of Operations on major repairs or issues.
The maintenance associate will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that LEEP buildings are properly maintained according to LEEP's aesthetic standards, including but not limited to how posters and signs are displayed, how lobby areas are organized, and how items are appropriately stored.
Responsibilities:
- Complete maintenance work under the supervision of the building's Principal, Director of Operations and Operations Manager, who will provide an annual evaluation
- Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, MPR, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, building exterior and grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment while adhering to maximum safety procedures
- Move deliveries, books, files, boxes, furniture, etc as needed
- Consistently clean and sterilize all high-touch areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and other harmful agents
- Travel to nearby warehouses/storage as required to move furniture
- Perform basic maintenance repairs and tasks within the building, such as drywall repairs; minor carpentry; classroom furniture; replacing light bulbs, & fixtures; painting projects; ceiling tile replacement; playground maintenance, athletic areas, grounds repairs; equipment audits, building inspections; safety issues, repairs; small landscaping projects; additional items as they arise
- Carry handheld radio at all times while on school property if assigned by Supervisor
- Maintains excellent time and consistent daily attendance
- Display evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
- Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions
- Maintain exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removal, etc. as needed
- Uphold the LEEP's mission, core beliefs, and educational philosophy
- Reflect on their practice and be a lifelong learner to improve effectiveness and guide professional growth
- Engage and collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies
- Report and assist with all emergency situations as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- The language of our school is Spanish. We value staying in this language in all aspects of our work.
- The position is generally limited to our school buildings
- The position requires enough mobility to conduct walkthroughs around the building and rooms.
- Very good physical condition and strength
- Capacity to lift 35-40lbs
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance associate, custodian, or similar role
- Protective spirit and welcoming personalities
- New York Fingerprint Authorization
- Some evenings and weekends required
