Assistant Director Of Engineering

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you'll mostly be:

  • Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
  • Creating a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy
  • Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimizing waste and meeting our green initiatives
  • Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed
  • Building strong relationships with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies, others as needed
  • Inspecting work assignments to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and within specifications.
  • Managing various maintenance and repair projects to ensure timely completion within budget and specifications.
  • Following and enforcing procedures that ensure the security of inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc., replenishing supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and minimizing waste.
  • Promoting teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Monitoring performance and recommending and/or initiating disciplinary or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies. Alerting management of potentially serious issues.
  • Responding in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Scheduling and overseeing preventive maintenance as outlined in the Preventative Maintenance Program
  • Performing maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool-if applicable, etc.
  • Assisting in educating/training employees on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and safety regulations. Informing management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.
  • Ensuring that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day's work.
  • May assist with other duties as assigned.
  • May serve as Manager of Duty as required.

What We Need From You:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
  • Four years' experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
  • HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required
  • Hotel experience preferred
