Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides support in all areas of building systems and mechanical maintenance/repair/operations, fields/grounds maintenance, and snow removal, under the direction of the Facilities Manager. The job includes performing general maintenance and repair tasks on building systems, equipment, furniture, instructional equipment, grounds, etc. as assigned by the Facilities Manager or designee. The technician is also responsible for performing preventative maintenance activities, regular inspections of equipment and systems, and maintaining an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
Daily operation of the work order system, snow and ice removal tasks, monitoring and operating heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems, and responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns are also part of the job. The technician must be able to move about schools and Central Office to maintain fields, troubleshoot and diagnose field maintenance equipment functionality, perform grounds work, and operate equipment to remove snow.
The position requires effective oral and written communication skills, ability to adapt to changing priorities, and ability to operate email and work with computer-based programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google-Suite programs. The technician must possess a valid CT driver's license and submit to a satisfactory CT Department of Children and Families background check. This position is hourly, non-exempt, and unaffiliated with a salary range of $50,000 - $55,000.
