Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic
Overview
As a certified Safelite Seasonal Repair Specialist I, you will use industry‑leading technology to complete vehicle glass repairs and champion the Safelite Spirit with a can‑do attitude, caring heart, and service mindset, ensuring the highest quality standard.
Responsibilities- Learn to repair vehicle glass (in classroom and hands‑on) following the Safelite Way of Fitting under guidance of experienced technicians.
- Repair chips, cracks and other auto glass issues on customer vehicles.
- Manage work orders, customer documentation, and customer communication through Safelite handheld Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology; promote and sell Safelite promotional items.
- Clean customer vehicles during wait/idle time and perform housekeeping tasks in company vehicle and shop.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, and company‑issued tools and chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly base pay starting at $17.75 / hour.
- Benefit amounts are estimates only.
- High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (Preferred).
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license (and any other required licenses).
- On‑the‑job training and completion of Safelite Safe Tech™ certification.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs; assist with windshields weighing 26–50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods; work in tight spaces; bend and twist body.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate a motor vehicle per all laws and be monitored via camera/video surveillance.
- Provide outstanding customer service and exceed expectations.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Operate chemicals as applicable per the Safelite Way of Fitting.
- Work scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times.
- Problem‑solve and troubleshoot independently and collaboratively.
- Read, write, and interpret English and technical directions.
- Communicate orally (via phone) and in writing (via computer or other electronic means).
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to uniform and PPE policies.
- Maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition.
This position involves driving duties that will be monitored through the use of cameras, GPS, and other tracking technologies to ensure safety and compliance.
