Job Summary

The Cleaner II is a more experienced position responsible for performing advanced housekeeping duties and providing additional support in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in both residential and administrative settings. Has full knowledge of the annual cycles of the College, from prep for student move in, to student move out protocols. This role involves a higher level of skill and proficiency in cleaning techniques and may include training or oversight of Cleaner I staff.

Compensation:

• Hourly rate for this position is $19.65 per hour (this role is eligible for overtime and shift differentials)

Schedule:

• This position would train on the normal schedule of Monday through Friday from 5am-1:30pm. Then would transition to a schedule of Saturday through Wednesday with Thursdays and Fridays off. Weekdays would be 5:30am-1:30pm and weekends are 7am-3:30pm, weekend shift hours earn an additional $1 shift differential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and countertops.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, including countertops, appliances, and sinks.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
• Clean and polish mirrors, glass surfaces, and windows as needed.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and notify supervisor of any shortages or equipment malfunctions.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
• Perform all duties of Cleaner I (above) with minimal guidance and also has ability to perform one or more of the following:
  Assist in training and overseeing Cleaner I staff, providing guidance and support as needed; delegates and guides small work groups on tasks; ability to drive a transit van to respond and resolve cleaning-related inquiries or complaints from residents or occupants; ability to provide on-call pager; ability to strip and wax floors.
• Use specialized cleaning equipment and tools, including floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, to achieve high-quality results.
• Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment ( PPE ) as required.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with EHS health and safety regulations at all times.

Some high school education required;
High school diploma or GED preferred

• Ability to read, write and understand the written word, and perform basic mathematical computations
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards
• Physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive tasks and lift/move heavy objects

• Minimum two years of related experience at an institution of higher education or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in meeting standards outlined in Housekeeping Group Condition Assessment Criteria.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
