We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Assistant / Service Technician to complete repairs, respond to work orders, prepare apartments for move-in, and support the daily upkeep of our community.
About the OpportunityAs a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Maintenance Lead and Director of Property Maintenance to keep resident apartments, common areas, grounds, and community equipment operating safely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on position combining general building maintenance,
apartment make-readies
, porter duties
, preventive maintenance, and resident service. The role also participates in the community’s scheduled on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance needs.
- Complete resident work orders promptly and professionally, including repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, fixtures, and other building components
- Perform apartment make-readies, inspections, and repairs to return vacant units to clean, safe, market-ready condition
- Complete painting, sheetrock repair, light carpentry, flooring repair, and other general maintenance projects
- Identify and address leaks, damaged fixtures, lighting issues, safety hazards, and equipment concerns
- Assist with the upkeep of common areas, grounds, parking areas, pools or spas, fences, gates, patios, stairs, and railings
- Perform porter duties, including trash removal, debris cleanup, storage-area organization, and general community upkeep
- Support preventive maintenance inspections and maintain accurate work-order and service records
- Properly maintain tools, maintenance equipment, supplies, and work areas
- Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation and respond to after-hours maintenance needs when assigned
- Resident work orders are completed accurately, safely, and within expected timelines
- Vacant apartments are returned to market-ready condition on schedule
- Common areas, grounds, and maintenance spaces remain clean, organized, and well maintained
- Potential safety or maintenance concerns are identified before they become larger problems
- Residents and team members receive professional, respectful, and responsive service
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least six months of hands‑on maintenance experience; one or more years in an apartment, senior living, hotel, residential, or comparable setting is preferred
- Experience with general plumbing, electrical repairs, appliance repair, painting, sheetrock, light carpentry, and building maintenance
- Basic HVAC knowledge or experience is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or after‑hours shifts as part of an on‑call rotation
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs or ladders, and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
