Summary
Position:
Journeyman Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic at APS HUBwest Garage.
Work schedule:
Monday – Friday 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of one of the following:
- Completed a qualified Journeyman Mechanic Apprenticeship Program;
Automotive AAS degree from a community college or graduated from a Certified Automotive Technical School, PLUS five (5) years of experience in the trade - If no formal training: candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the trade.
- Completed a qualified Journeyman Mechanic Apprenticeship Program;
Applicants must have a Class A CDL permit at the time of application and a clean driving record.
- If the applicant is awarded the position and holds a CDL Permit, must obtain a valid Class A CDL license (manual transmission with no mechanical restrictions) prior to official transfer/start date.
- If the applicant is awarded the position and holds an out-of-state CDL, must obtain a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (manual transmission with no mechanical restrictions) within 30 days of official transfer/start date.
- All aspects of medium/heavy duty gas and diesel truck maintenance and repair
- Light duty vehicle maintenance and/or construction equipment
- Hydraulic equipment experience
- Preferred experience in mobile fleet service
- Must live within reasonable distance (one hour) from headquarters
- Applicants must pass aptitude and qualifying Journeyman tests (written/hands‑on)
- This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 350 lbs or less
- A written paper and pencil test
- A computer-based test using a keyboard
- A hands‑on skills test

Role Type and LocationOnsite:
Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility, including at a power plant, job site, or in the community.
- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
- Role types are subject to change based on business needs.
