Position:
Custodian (Classified). Part-time, 20 hours per week, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 9‑month assignment. Reports directly to the BUHS Plant Foreman.

General Statement of Position’s

Purpose:

To play an integral part in ensuring a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment for students to learn and develop.

• Less than a high school diploma
• MSDS and blood-born pathogen training

• Less than one year experience in custodial work is preferred.
• Ability to communicate and work well with staff, parents, and children.

• Cleaning chemicals
• General hand tools
• Vacuum

• May be required to alter working hours to perform regular assigned duties
• Deliver equipment and supplies
• Clean restrooms as needed
• Setup and take down all school‑related activities and events
• Move furniture and equipment as needed
• Raise the United States Flag before school and retire the flag after school hours
• Report safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs
• Keep grounds free of rubbish
• Sweep, vacuum, dust, and empty trash as needed
• Clean corridors, when warranted, during the day
• Assist the maintenance technician
• Assist with securing the buildings
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Communicate with supervisor when problems occur

• Must use own initiative and judgment in performing job
• Performs as directed; responsible for own job under direct supervision

• Completes work with minimum contact with others

• Routine work with little planning needed

• Periodic exposure to hazardous materials such as blood-born pathogens, high voltage, gas, and heights

• Sit approximately 0% of the time
• Walk approximately 90% of the time
• Stand approximately 5% of the time
• Kneel / stoop approximately 5% of the time
• Lift regular basis 30 to 40 lbs.
• Reach with hands and arms regularly
• Ability to wear respirator and gloves as needed
