Job Title: Auto Parts Yard Tech
Reports To: Yard Manager
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Location: U Pull It 49 Hopkins (49 Hopkins Street Buffalo NY, 14220)
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday as needed
Compensation: $20-23/hr, based on skills and experience
PurposeThe Auto Parts Yard Tech is responsible for accurately locating, identifying, and removing parts from salvaged vehicles, ensuring that parts are properly identified, organized, and prepared for sale to customers. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Clean and prepare the job site and yard in a tidy and safe manner.
- Locate vehicle part that is designated on the work order.
- Prepare vehicles for dismantling, remove fluids such as gas or oil from vehicles, disconnect battery, airbags, and any other electrical component.
- Remove parts from vehicles to be sold to customers, in a timely and safety conscious manner.
- May use a variety of hand and power tools to remove usable parts and components, such as engines, transmissions, wheels, tires & interior parts.
- Inspect parts for quality and defects, and ensure pulled parts are clean before customer pickup/delivery/shipment.
- Move vehicles and parts without damaging vehicles, parts, property, or injuring personnel.
- May be required to operate equipment (i.e. Forklift, Bobcat, Forktruck, Loader).
- Reduce waste by identifying usable and non-usable parts.
- Adhere to safety regulations, environmental regulations, and company policies while performing duties.
- Ensuring all equipment is properly inspected and following proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injury.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reports any issues to their manager.
- Other duties/tasks as assigned by management.
- High School degree or equivalent preferred.
- Being able to operate bobcats, forklifts, and loaders is a plus.
- 1-year automotive mechanic experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Quick learner who can follow directions.
- Good communication skills.
- Team player.
- Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.

- Must be able to remain in and operate equipment in a shop or dismantling area.
- Work in an area equipped with drain tables, forklifts, chain hoists, and other tools as needed.
- Move about a salvage yard.
- Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
- Expected work hours are based on role and location.
- Ability to work occasional overtime as needed as determined by the employee's supervisor.
