Head School Custodian

Job Description

Reporting to the School Principal, this position is responsible for the performance of custodial duties to ensure the maintenance of clean and hygienic school facilities so that his/her assigned school is ready for normal use the following school day. This position coordinates and monitors the activities of, and provides training to, school custodians working at his/her school.

• A minimum 1-3 years experience as a custodian and familiarity with the equipment and materials used for school cleaning
• WHMIS training and an understanding of the hazards of products used in the performance of his/her duties
• First aid and CPR qualification
• Fluency in Cree an asset
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, organizations, and communities
• Ability to plan and coordinate the activities of other custodians
• Ability to establish and maintain positive staff and student relations
• Ability to meet the required physical demands of the job including lifting heavy objects and working from heights
• Willingness to take training in the use of custodial products and equipment
  
  Willingness to clean his/her assigned school after special events including taking down and organizing tables and chairs
• Proficiency in computer applications as required by the role, including email, Word, and Excel
• Ability to work on his/her own without direct supervision

RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) submitted prior to commencement of employment.
