Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Overview
Under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for mechanical activities and work associated with maintaining the facility and site operations.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot systems and mechanical equipment to diagnose the source of malfunction.
- Perform preventative maintenance such as roll changes, lubrication, and replacement of belts and bearings to maintain equipment reliability.
- Dismantle, assemble, and repair machines using power and hand tools.
- Rebuild pumps, annealing furnaces, and other equipment.
- Plan and lay out work according to models, blueprints, drawings, or other specified specifications.
- Perform tasks such as welding, machining using manual lathe/mill, wood carpentry and metal fabrication.
- Use precise measuring devices such as calipers, dial indicators, and tape measures.
- Repair and install water, steam, gas, or other pipe and fittings.
- Attend and actively participate in safety, quality, and environmental initiatives or events as required.
- Use CMMS to perform work order completions and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Assist lead-person with assigning, scheduling, and prioritization of work order requests.
- Assist in installing, moving, and relocating equipment.
- Accomplish snow removal duties during winter months.
- Operate forklift and ground equipment.
- Consult with supervision, lead, and other mechanics on problem resolution and troubleshooting.
- Keep others informed of progress and problems that arise.
- Make recommendations for spare parts, stock room items, and tools.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred graduate of a recognized Millwright/Mechanic trade school/program covering blueprint reading, machining, fabrication, rigging, and welding.
- Preferred 3-5 years of on-the-job experience as a millwright/mechanic within an industrial, chemical, or pharmaceutical setting.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee, a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on Materion’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with Materion’s business requirements.
Pay Range: $26.00 - $36.00 (actual base salary offered varies based on factors such as relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location).
