Position: Cleaner (Floater)
School Cleaner Position Summary The School Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Cleaner performs routine cleaning and custodial duties throughout the school building and ensures that classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas are properly maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, hallways, and common areas.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect assigned areas.

Empty and properly dispose of trash and recycling.

Clean and maintain floors, windows, doors, walls, furniture, and other surfaces.

Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.

Safely use cleaning equipment, tools, and approved cleaning chemicals.

Follow established cleaning schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.

Respond promptly to spills and other situations requiring immediate cleaning.

Set up and break down rooms, tables, chairs, and equipment for school meetings, events, and activities as assigned.

Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the appropriate supervisor.

Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure supplies are stored safely and appropriately.

Assist with seasonal cleaning projects and other custodial duties as assigned.

Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with students, staff, and visitors.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or school administration.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous custodial, janitorial, commercial, or school cleaning experience preferred but not required.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance.

Ability to safely handle cleaning products and equipment.

Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment.

Ability to climb stairs and perform routine cleaning tasks throughout the school building.

Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor as required by the position.

Work Environment The position works primarily indoors within a school environment and may occasionally require outdoor work, including assisting with snow, ice, or other grounds-related duties as assigned.
