Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift
Location:
Buford, GA
Pay: $28 - 32/hour
Schedule:
1st Shift | Occasional overtime, including Saturdays
A growing metals manufacturing company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its Buford, GA facility. This is a great opportunity for a hands‑on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, troubleshooting, and working independently.
This is a newly established maintenance position, giving the selected technician an opportunity to help build and develop the facility’s maintenance program. As the maintenance function grows, this individual will also assist with production as needed.
What You’ll Do- Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing and material‑handling equipment
- Help develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Perform machine and equipment repairs
- Assist with crane and material‑handling equipment maintenance
- Help minimize equipment downtime and keep production running efficiently
- Read blueprints and technical information to support repairs
- Identify, order, and maintain necessary parts and supplies
- Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers when needed
- Assist with equipment projects and new equipment installation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with production as needed while the maintenance function continues to develop
- Perform other duties as needed
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with metal processing equipment is a plus
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Welding and cutting/burning experience
- Machine repair experience
- Crane and/or hoist experience
- Forklift/Hi-Lo experience
- Preventive maintenance experience
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to identify and order parts and supplies
- Self-directed, dependable, and comfortable working in a hands‑on production environment
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
