Job Summary and PurposeReporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant I is responsible for minor repairs and regular building and grounds maintenance for the assigned complex. The position requires the ability to work independently and with flexible hours.
Responsibilities- Maintain the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, parking lots and grounds in good condition.
- Perform or assist in the execution of minor repairs such as carpentry, plumbing, interior painting, refurbishing and cleaning, landscape and irrigation systems. Handle basic maintenance tasks independently; may work as part of a team on more complex tasks.
- Follow the daily maintenance checklist provided by the supervisor, ensure tools and supplies are stocked and secured in maintenance store rooms, and maintain cleanliness and order of store rooms.
- Check buildings for safety concerns; understand and carry out VOALA, federal and other governmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Services must be provided on‑site; employees must report to work on‑site each day of active employment.
- Drive company vehicle as required for the pickup and delivery of supplies.
- Other duties as required and may be subject to change.
All employees are mandated reporters and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to the proper authorities.
Qualifications- Must pass a fingerprint clearance, background check (including criminal history), personal references, employment and education verifications.
- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts involving difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current California driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in facilities maintenance or construction required.
- Formal training in a construction trade specialty (plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, etc.) preferred.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
