Responsibilities
  • Case-manage all IEPs at assigned sites and be responsible for all IEP development, including IEP meeting coordination and facilitation.
  • Develop related goals and objectives and recommend policies, planning, and implementation by working with school staff to meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Serve as a resource for information regarding special education services, programs and policies and ensure that procedures are appropriate in relation to policies required by region, district, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze data, plan activities, monitor programs/services, respond to others and consult with teachers, administrators and regional staff.
  • Address other duties and processes required to maintain the program of services and compliance for assigned sites.
  • Serve as a resource to district personnel and as a liaison to various agencies (e.g. district committees, interagency boards) for the purpose of explaining procedures conveying and/or receiving information as needed for the planning, developing and evaluating of services related to special education.
  • Analyze assessment results to drive instruction and IEP development.
  • Observe specific students/classrooms and makes recommendations.
  • Provide a continuous in-service program designed to improve the professional staff.
  • Research, plan and coordinate training programs for administrators, parents, regular teachers, special education teachers, etc. in understanding special education students.
  • Provide on-going communication with district and Cooperative personnel.
  • Interpret and disseminate information regarding state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Inform the Director of student progress, teacher and other personnel effectiveness, and program development.
  • Assist with the master schedule as it applies to students with disabilities.
  • Evaluate Staff.
  • Attend Cooperative meetings and presents information when requested.
  • Prepare a wide variety of often complex materials (e.g. plans, funding requests, reports analyses, recommendations, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, providing audit references, making presentations, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other such responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in special education preferred.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) w/proper endorsement preferred.
  • Master degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Knowledge of
  • Special Education Individualized Education and Behavior Plans.
  • Research, trends, and best practices in Special Education.
  • State laws, regulations, federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to Special Education.
  • Teacher evaluation processes and procedures.
Ability to
  • Develop and maintain relationships within a diverse community.
  • Design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers.
  • Organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Draft procedures to provide special education services.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with staff, school center personnel and community.
  • Interpret test data, evaluations, achievement tests, adaptive behavioral and behavioral scales.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Work Environment

The employee regularly works inside. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of staff and students. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be noisy, active and busy at times.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and may be required to lift and/or push up to 50 lb. The employee is required to use close vision, distance vision, and depth perception and be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.

Mental/Motor Demands

The employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require excellent oral and written communications.
