Event Venue Handyman

Pay: $40.00 to $65.00 per hour

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to support the care and upkeep of Mercantile Hall. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on work, takes pride in maintaining beautiful spaces, and is consistently available for light weekly work with occasional on call support.

You will help ensure our venue remains clean, safe, and welcoming for every couple and guest we serve. This position requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

• Approximately 4 to 8 hours per week for regularly scheduled tasks, typically early in the week
• Availability for on call support Friday through Sunday as needed
• Weekend on-call work is limited but compensated at a higher rate, with a typical maximum of 4 hours

• Be available for on call maintenance needs, especially during weekends when events are in progress
• Optional opportunity for additional hours during winter months for snow shoveling and exterior upkeep

• Electrical:
  Replace light bulbs in chandeliers, ceiling fixtures, and indoor and outdoor string lights
• Doors and walls:
  Minor door repairs, basic drywall repair, and interior painting as needed
• Furniture:
  Maintain and repair tables and chairs, including installing chair pads and addressing wear and tear
• Equipment:
  Routine maintenance and cleaning of appliances such as ice machines, refrigerators, and floor cleaning machines
• Plumbing:
  Address minor leaks, unclog drains, and install basic fixtures

• Water planters and maintain plant health 2 to 3 days per week
• Pull weeds, prune shrubs and ivy, and keep landscaping tidy
• Refresh mulch annually
• Power wash the Urb Garden patio weekly during summer and fall months
• Restock propane tanks and maintain firewood supply as needed

• This is a 1099 independent contractor role

• Must provide your own tools

• Previous handyman or maintenance experience
• Familiarity with general repair techniques, tools, and materials
• Experience maintaining both interior spaces and outdoor grounds is a plus
