Concession Stand Lead (Westminster Pier Park, Eats at the Pier): April 17 to September 7, minimum 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week (Mon, Wed, Sat & Sun 12:15‑8:45 pm; Fri 8:30‑11:45 am, 4:00‑8:45 pm).

The Concession Stand Lead (Queen’s Park and Hume Park): From April 24 to June 28, minimum 20 hrs a week, up to 32 hrs per week (Tue 8:30‑11:45 am, 5:00‑9:00 pm; Thu 2:00‑10:30 pm; Sat 11:00‑7:30 pm). From June 29 to September 7, minimum 20 hrs per week, up to 40 hrs per week (Tue 8:30‑11:45 am, 4:00‑8:45 pm; Thu 2:00‑10:30 pm;

Fri 9:00‑4:30 pm; Sat & Sun 11:00‑7:30 pm).

This is a seasonal hands‑on Concession Stand Lead (Concession Worker
2) position responsible for supervising concession workers and overseeing the daily food service operation at concession outlets and special events in City’s parks and facilities. As a Concession Stand Lead, you will be responsible for: opening and closing outdoor seasonal concession outlets; providing feedback on staff scheduling; supervising and participating in the work of Concession Worker 1 engaged in preparing and selling food and beverages;

accurately accounting for stock on hand and maintaining an inventory of supplies; assigning, participating, recording and auditing daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of the facility and food equipment; carrying out equipment and facility deep cleaning; preparing and maintaining records of food safety requirements; maintaining standard cooking procedures; exercising independence of judgment and action in day‑to‑day operations; ensuring that the daily schedule of activity and established quality standards are maintained;

and referring unusual problems to supervisors.

If you have the following characteristics and qualifications, we want to hear from you:

  • Completion of Grade 12 preferred
  • Minimum of two years in fast‑food services supervision or related experience, including demonstrated experience in staff and concession stand supervision
  • Possession of a valid Food Safe Level 1 certification
  • Valid Class 7N or Class 5 BC driver’s licence and ability to drive a cargo van
  • Preferred: certificate of completion of the online WHMIS course from the British Columbia Municipal Safety Association (BCMSA)
  • Ability to supervise frontline concession workers to provide customers with the highest quality products, customer service in a neat, clean and professional environment
  • Ability to provide direction and support to frontline concession workers while working independently and effectively in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment
  • Knowledge of concession operation standards, operation of food service equipment, basic food‑preparatory techniques, sanitation and safety issues
  • Strong attention‑to‑detail skills
  • Ability to accurately account for cash register procedures and inventory
  • Ability to operate a point‑of‑sale system; experience with Square Register POS is an asset
  • Verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff and prepare written reports when required
  • Ability to tolerate extreme heat, and humidity necessary to work in kitchens, and work outdoors
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire length of shift as duties demand
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for set‑up, service and cleaning of concession stands
