Overview
As a Seasonal Maintenance Worker in our Utilities Department, you will assist with basic water and sewer maintenance tasks to help maintain the City’s infrastructure.
This is a summer seasonal position lasting three months, with work hours of either:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., or
- Monday to Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Our Public Works Department is a committed team of talented individuals who work together to keep things running smoothly for those who live, work, and play in Burnsville. Your work will play a vital role in the operation and upkeep of our city’s infrastructure, ensuring it remains efficient and well-maintained.
This role is non-exempt (hourly) and has a starting salary of $17.42/hr.
The Seasonal Maintenance Utilities Worker values people and perspectives by:
- Performing essential water and sewer maintenance to support the City’s infrastructure.
- Assisting with sewer cleaning, hydrant flushing and repair, lubrication, and building maintenance to benefit the community.

- Operate high-capacity rotary mowers, 4WD tractors, carts, pickup trucks, and specialty equipment for efficient maintenance.
- Assist with Gopher State One Call utility locating, ensuring safety and accuracy.
They expect the best by:
- Safely operating city vehicles and equipment, including mowers, pickup trucks, and various hand and power tools, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Assisting with mowing, turf maintenance, and weed trimming to maintain high standards for the city’s landscaping.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A valid Class D Driver’s License and eligibility to obtain one.
- A background or interest in local government work with a focus on serving the community.
