Nuclear Safety Engineer

As a Nuclear Safety Engineer you will perform routine calculations under the mentorship of your manager or more senior engineers. Your manager may assign other responsibilities listed below on an as‑needed basis.

You will report to the Manager
- Nuclear Safety Services and be located at Burr Ridge and can work in a hybrid capacity.

• Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer
• Prepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
• Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified
• Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
• Obtain results to routine technical problems
• Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiatives; identify and recommend improvements in processes on a continuing basis, support implementation, and help develop new business opportunities
• Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
• 0-2 years experience
• Coding experience in one or more of the following areas is required:
  Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic
• Desired experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis; also interest in thermal‑hydraulics modeling and analysis with RELAP, facility hazard modeling and analysis, equipment qualification, and laboratory experience with custom experiments

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
