Location: Beale Air Force Base
Duties - Inspects, tests, troubleshoots, maintains, disassembles, repairs, installs, modifies, stores, issues, fits, integrates, and adjusts aircrew flight equipment such as full pressure suit and full pressure suit equipment, helmets, survival kits, single place life rafts, parachutes, controller, regulators, emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons, and other types of aircrew survival systems.
- Makes, modifies, and repairs articles that are difficult to plan, lay out, construct, and fit because of figure irregularities, uncommon shapes and sizes, unusual designs, or intricately constructed parts, such as protective suits and similar items.
- Performs documentation and Quality Control Inspections (QCI) tasks. Updates inspection information in a variety of automated data management systems.
- Effectively train personnel IAW operational procedures on full pressure suit integration, aircrew launch and recovery; inspection and repair procedures of special purpose test equipment, full pressure suit assemblies, survival kits, oxygen equipment, and other related equipment as needed.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
* The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety
* The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
* Requires prolonged standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pulling, lifting, and working in cramped, strained and uncomfortable positions performing inspections and maintenance on AFE equipment
* Requires considerable use of arms, hands, and fingers to use power tools and inspect a variety of AFE equipment.
* Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh 30 to 50 pounds independently and occasionally lifts heavier items up to 150 pounds with assistance. Will be required to work in hot, cold, and inclement environments
* Due to the nature of this position and the limited amount of experienced personnel in this field it is highly desirable that the nominee have a minimum of four years of experience
* and in-depth knowledge on all current U-2 physiological equipment and launch/recovery operations. Training may be provided to individuals that have never been previously qualified in these duties

* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4800 General Equipment Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-4818 AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL AND FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER & INSTR MECH without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
