Senior Maintenance Technician (Food Manufacturing)
$38 - $46 per hour | Vernon, CA | On-site | Permanent
A bit about us:We are a rapidly growing 70,000 sq. ft. food manufacturing operation specializing in cooked deli meats and assembled frozen foods. Our facility is equipped with a wide range of cooking, processing, and packaging technologies, allowing us to produce everything from cooked pastrami and roast beef to custom‑topped pizzas and individually portioned frozen entrées. We manufacture for a diverse customer base, including wholesale, retail, food service, institutional programs, and other food processors.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high‑speed automated production equipment
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls‑related issues
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Troubleshoot motors, drives, VFDs, electrical panels, sensors, safety circuits, and control systems
- Support PLC troubleshooting activities, including ladder logic review and I/O diagnostics
- Maintain equipment reliability while minimizing downtime
- Perform precision equipment rebuilds, alignments, and installations
- Utilize CMMS systems to document work orders and maintenance activities
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with plant safety and sanitation standards
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong electrical troubleshooting experience with 480V and below systems
- Experience working with VFDs, servo systems, motor controls, and industrial automation
- Ability to troubleshoot relays, contractors, photo eyes, proximity sensors, safety devices, and control circuits
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with HMI systems and industrial instrumentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude including hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, pipe fitting, and precision alignment
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, or ultrasound monitoring
- Experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, packaging, or other GMP‑regulated manufacturing environments is highly preferred
- Industrial Electrical Certification or Technical Degree
- OSHA Electrical Safety Training
- HACCP Certification
- Welding Certifications
- Forklift, Aerial Lift, or Scissor Lift Certifications
- Refrigeration or Boiler Operator Certifications
- Self‑sufficient troubleshooting ability across both mechanical and electrical systems
- Strong safety mindset and Lockout/Tagout compliance
- Excellent problem‑solving skills in high‑pressure production environments
- Leadership potential and willingness to mentor junior technicians
- Strong communication and documentation skills
