Location: Edwards Air Force Base
Duties
* Certifies all assigned systems and sub systems to ensure concurrence with USAF and FAA established standards and safety requirements.
* Determines when equipment malfunctions warrant shutdown of various systems.
* Maintains inspection and certification records as required by technical orders, applicable regulations, and operating instructions.
* Provides technical guidance, training and assistance to other technicians in all phases of job performance.
* Utilizes safety practices and procedures in performing assigned work by following established safety rules and regulations.

* Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
* This position may require drug testing, and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
* Subject to shift work, overtime, telephone and pager on call and may be required to work uncommon tour of duty. May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignment.

* Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors.
* Indoor and outdoor work at radar sites requires frequent walking, kneeling, bending, prolonged standing, working in strained and uncomfortable positions. Outdoor work sometimes in inclement weather or limited light conditions.
* Must be physically able to climb and then perform work from ladders and towers which may reach height of approximately 30 meters. Occasional climbing of towers and ladders to heights of 100 feet while using safety climbing devices is required.
* Must be physically able to handle and carry heavy loads over 50 pounds. Use of both arms and legs required.
* Must be qualified to drive government motor vehicles and meet flight line driving qualifications.
* Requires knowledge of procedures for storage and handling of hazardous materials. Subject to injuries such as electric shock, cuts, bruises and burns caused by electrical or RF energy and soldering equipment.
* Requires CPR certification, annual occupational exam, and the wear of prescribed aural protection device. Requires recurring training to update knowledge of systems and procedures. EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-08 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities and limitations of electronic systems associated with air traffic control and weather radar equipment.
This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions.

Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR
EDUCATION:
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree that it is directly related to the work of the position.
