DEFINITION

Undergeneralsupervision,washestheexteriorof

El Dorado Transitvehiclesandcleans ,disinfectsandmaintainstheinterior;operatestheautomaticvehiclewashingequipment;performsroutinemaintenanceandcleaningdutiesof

El Dorado Transitoffices ,facilitiesandvehicles;usesavarietyofcustodialtools,equipment and supplies;and performsrelateddutiesasassigned.

Receivesgeneralsupervisionfrommanagementandsupervisorystaff.

Exercisesnodirectsupervisionoverstaff.

Thisisafullyqualifiedjourney-levelclassificationresponsibleforperformingthefullrangeofvehiclewashing/cleaning andcustodialduties forElDorado Transitoffices andsites, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative.

Positionsatthis levelreceiveonlyoccasionalinstructionorassistanceas new or unusual situations arise andarefully awareof the operating procedure sand policies ofthe workunit.

• Using a variety of materials and equipment, cleansandsanitizesthe exterior and interior of El Dorado Transitvehicles;operatesautomaticvehiclewashingequipment;ensuresinteriorseatsandflooringareproperlymaintainedinatidy condition; cleans and maintains automatic bus washing equipment.
• Performsadiverserangeofcustodialdutiesin El Dorado Transitfacilitiesandsites ;cleansoffices,facilities, bus sheltersandbusstops; monitors conditions of facilities and reports the need for maintenance and repair.

• Sweeps,mopsandscrubsfloors;removestrash;cleanswindows;wipesdownanddustsceilings,walls,and doors;dustsfurnitureand equipment.
• Maintains bus stop locationsbyperformingtaskssuchascleaning,installingandrepairingbusstop

• Closes windows, andlocksdoorsto secure facilities and vehicles.
• Keeps basic records of work performed.
• Performs landscape maintenanceatvarioussites;mowslawns;trimsbushesandremovesweeds;ensuresthatwalkwaysandpathsare clear ofdebris.
• Operates all transit vehicles.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Proper cleaning methods, and theuse of cleaning materials,and disinfectants.
• Proper useofautomatic vehicle washing equipment.
• Use andminor maintenance ofhand and power toolsand equipmentusedincustodialwork.
• Safety practices when working withtools, equipment and cleaningmaterials.
• Techniquesforprovidingahighlevelofcustomerservicebyeffectivelydealingwiththepublicand El Dorado  Transit staff.
• Basic record keeping practices.

• Wash vehicles and maintain interiors in a clean andtidy condition.
• Perform general custodial tasks within anoffice and maintenance/shop environment.
• Properlyuse personal protective equipment and handlehazardouschemicals
• Understandandfollow written and oral instructions.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Presenta positivepublicimage of the transitsystem.
• Communicate clearlyandconcisely, both orally and inwriting.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encounteredinthecourseofthework.

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Equivalent to completion of the eighth(8th) grade andsix(6) monthsof custodialwork experience.

• Possession of,and ability to maintain,a valid California Driver's License andasafedrivingrecordthroughoutemployment.
• Possession of, or abilitytoobtainwithinninety(90) daysofappointmenttotheclassification,aClassB Driver's License withapassengerendorsementandnoairbrakerestriction;andmaintainasafedrivingrecordthroughoutemployment.

Mustpossessmobilitytoworkinanoutdoor/indoorsetting;operatecleaningequipmentandtools;visiontoreadprintedmaterials;andhearingandspeechtocommunicateinperson.

Standinginandwalkingbetweenworkareasisfrequentlyrequired,specificallyclimbingin/outofbuses.

Fingerdexterityisneededtooperatetoolsandequipment.

Positionsinthisclassificationfrequentlybend, stoop,kneel,andreachtoperformassignedduties. Employeesmustpossesstheabilitytolift,carry,push,andpullmaterialsandobjectsupto
40poundswiththeuseofproperequipmentsuchasbackpacksanitizingfogsprayersandsteamcleaner.

Employeesoccasionallyworksindoorsinanofficeorotherindoorfacilityenvironment,andtypicallyduringnon-standardhourswithfrequentexposuretodirt,dust,hazardous substances,andhumanoranimalbodily fluids;predominatelyworks outdoorsinallweather conditions andtemperatures.

• Mustbe willing toworkoutdoors inallweatherconditions and toworkweekends,evening shifts,andovertimeas necessary.
