Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Lead Mechanic in Production Operations, Full Time, Cambridge, MD. Leads a crew of mechanics, oversees maintenance activities, ensures production equipment operates efficiently, and manages downtime resolution.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee crew maintenance activities for Aseptic Align equipment.
- Allocate crew resources to address equipment downtime and complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain operation of production equipment in collaboration with the operations team.
- Proactively identify and correct potential issues that could create downtime.
- Act as crew technical liaison for problem‑solving and issue resolution (PDCA/BDA process).
- Drive completion of crew‑assigned PDCA/BDA actions triggered by the PDCA process.
- Coordinate scheduled PMs, training, and projects with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Track crew and department metrics such as 5’s, PM completion, hours on work orders, parts on work orders, and area ownership completion.
- Perform maintenance and repairs of all production equipment and assist across department boundaries.
- Ensure daily maintenance logs, PM reports, and work orders are completed and submitted correctly.
- Conduct shift handover meetings and review shift reports from other shifts.
- Delegate work assigned by the supervisor to technicians and coach their development.
- Document issues requiring follow‑up repairs/replacements and submit SAP notifications to generate follow‑up work orders.
- Manage all TPMS work during the shift, ensuring paperwork is reviewed and completed daily.
- Working knowledge of aseptic and processing packaging manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience working closely with management to manage staff and work requirements.
- Ability to work from manuals and printed instructions.
- Flexible to accommodate shift coverage, PMs, and project completions.
- Knowledge of packaging and processing equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership attributes: responsibility, ownership, engagement, follow‑up, accountability, and effective communication.
- Experience in a similar supervisory or lead mechanic role is preferred.
Overnight role on a rotating continental schedule—4:50pm to 5am. Pay range is $33.98–$49.44 per hour depending on skill level and industry experience.
