Position: Environmental Services Specialist - Cambridge -Full Time

General Summary

Performs custodial work to ensure all areas of the medical office are clean and sanitized at a level compatible with local, state, and federal health codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment and tools preferred
  • Ability to see a problem, find a solution, and follow through

  • Organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and effectively manage time
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of performance
  • Physical stamina and mobility to perform the essential job tasks over extended periods of time
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Working Conditions
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. 4-5 times a day; ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Carrying up to 40 lbs. occasionally
  • Constant bending, stooping, stretching, reaching (overhead and below knees), sitting, or kneeling for extended periods of time
  • Walking and standing continually during working hours
  • Normal coordination and/or visual attention in connection with the standard flow of work
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evening, and/or weekends if needed
  • Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Must follow management assignments along with organizational policies and procedures
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and scrubs floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines
  • Sometimes using ladders, dusts, washes walls, cleans ceilings, dusts and polishes light fixture; adheres to proper procedures for ladder use
  • Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, walls, and floors using chemical and cleaning solutions.
  • Cleaning of windows and doors
  • May also sweep walks, rake leaves, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
  • General cleaning of all areas of the facilities including but not limited to restrooms, laboratories, break areas, offices, hallways, waiting areas, and exam rooms
  • Properly clean upholstered furniture to maintain its appearance and hygiene
  • Sanitizing all surfaces
  • Cleaning of all areas must be completed in compliance with industry standards and by following OSHA standards and guidelines
  • Follow infection control precautions when cleaning all areas
  • Follow health and safety regulations/protocols along with established cleaning procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure safe and proper use of cleaning equipment; ensure safe use and storage of chemicals
  • Insect removal, preventative treatment, and cleanup
  • Collect and remove trash and debris to uphold cleanliness standards
  • Perform detailed deep cleans when required to ensure thorough sanitation and upkeep of facilities
  • Restock supplies such as toiletries, paper products, and cleaning products
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management; create maintenance tickets as necessary
  • Work effectively as part of a team of housekeepers to maintain operational efficiency
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with coworkers and patients to foster a welcoming environment
  • Respond to calls for housekeeping problems, such as spills, to maintain safety and cleanliness
  • Clean, disinfect, and store all cleaning equipment at the end of the shift to ensure readiness for future use
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned by supervisor
