Job Summary
Sanitation Laborer – seasonal, part‑time position in the City of Canton Sanitation Department. No prior experience required. The role involves collecting refuse and recyclables and assisting the team in keeping the city clean.
WageHourly rate: $11.19–$18.21

Minimum 18 years of age. U.S. citizens or permanent residents (valid ). High school graduate or GED. Valid driver’s license not required but preferred.
ShiftPart‑time, seasonal. Shift begins at 6:00 a.m.; end time varies by daily route.
Responsibilities- Ride on or follow behind a refuse truck, collecting refuse and recyclable materials from properties.
- Return collected materials to the truck and dispose of them appropriately.
- Maintain proper placement of containers on trip ends.
- Execute safety practices and uphold crew, driver, and traffic safety.
Heavy physical work. Must be in good physical condition; able to lift, squat, bend, and move as necessary. Repetitive tasks expected.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Ability to work outdoors in extreme and adverse conditions.
- Follow oral and written instructions with minimal detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact politely with the public.
High school diploma or GED equivalent. No prior experience required.
Drug Test & Background InvestigationAll candidates may be required to submit to a drug test and a background investigation, including criminal and driving record checks. Eligibility is contingent upon successful completion of these tests.
