Maintenance & Safety Technician
Canton Christian Home | Canton, OH

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Safety Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and safety of our skilled nursing and assisted living campus. This position performs preventative maintenance, responds to work orders, assists with inspections, and helps ensure the facility remains in compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine building maintenance and repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems.
  • Repair plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, doors, locks, and fixtures.
  • Maintain HVAC systems and coordinate outside contractors as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections throughout the facility.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and fire safety procedures.
  • Maintain the grounds, including snow removal, salting sidewalks, mowing, and landscaping.
  • Set up rooms for meetings and special events.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Life Safety Code, and facility policies.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection records.
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation for after‑hours maintenance emergencies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or assisted living is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and power tools.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
