Facilities Maintenance Assistant

A manufacturer in the Canton, Ohio area is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Assistant. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. You will be responsible for facility upkeep, routine janitorial tasks, and assisting with basic building and equipment preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine janitorial duties, including sanitizing restrooms, lunchrooms, shop floors, and common areas.
• Assist with basic building and equipment repairs, light painting, and scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
• Empty facility trash bins, manage waste disposal, and keep supply stations fully stocked.
• Maintain exterior grounds, including seasonal snow removal, litter cleanup, and keeping walkways clear.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment and standard hand/power tools to support maintenance needs.
• Assist in moving equipment, materials, and office furniture as requested.
• Promptly report facilities issues or safety hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor while following company safety policies and wearing required PPE.

Requirements

• Prior experience in custodial, janitorial, or basic facilities maintenance preferred.
• Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, and facility equipment.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions (e.g., winter grounds keeping).
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items throughout an 8-hour shift.
