Position Overview
As a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Technician II, you will oversee the safe operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of MHE equipment, including electric and propane industrial forklifts, pallet jacks, hi‑low lifts, scissor lifts, scrubbers/sweepers, battery charging stations and cars, and batteries, while also providing assistance to the Supervisor and Manager of Maintenance to ensure assets are managed in accordance with equipment and parts manufacturers, equipment and parts suppliers, EPA, OSHA, and applicable State and Local Codes.

- Oversee and manage the repair of the MHE fleet, including monitoring and trending, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Conduct preventive maintenance (P.M.’s) within manufacturer guidelines/specifications and established timelines, including oil changes, filter changes, calibration, belt changes, inspections, adjustments and lubrication.
- Report required inspections, evaluations, P.M. procedures concisely and communicate clear instructions to management.
- Log time and materials into CMMS on a daily basis for repairs, P.M.s, etc.
- Communicate daily all pertinent information regarding equipment operation and maintenance to maintenance lead, management and other maintenance teams/shifts.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanup of all maintenance areas/work areas daily.
- Interpret plans, specifications, schematics, operating and maintenance manuals for all systems overseen.
- Assist maintenance lead in developing SOPs, daily work schedules and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance for MHE and battery equipment.
- Assist in managing outside battery, MHE and electrical contractors for service, repair and new contract work.
- Assist with creation of parts lists and parts management.
- Assist battery technicians with battery charger repairs, battery changes for MHE, repair of plug tips and chargers, watering and washing batteries, acid spill clean‑up, battery rack cleaning, battery area sweeping and cleaning and other general maintenance activities.
- Assist building and refrigeration maintenance teams with general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting and repairs, refrigeration system repairs and maintenance and related activities.
No travel required.
Environment- Freezer Warehouse: –20°F to 0°F
- Perishable Warehouse: 28°F to 60°F
- Grocery Warehouse: 50°F to 90°F
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, schematics and components.
- Electrical systems schematics for AC and DC systems, drive motors, power amplifiers, electrical controls including PLC systems.
- Mechanical systems including transmissions, drive units, differentials, braking systems, internal combustion motors, telescopic masts, reach mechanisms, steering systems and suspension systems.
- Building and HVAC knowledge (dock doors, electrical, HVAC systems).
- Manufacturer certifications (Raymond, Crown, Toyota, etc.).
- A.S.E. certifications (Electrical, Mechanical, Braking Systems, etc.).
2–5 years in an MHE maintenance position.
QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent. General studies, KPIs, safety & sanitation, training & development, values & teamwork. Shift: 2nd Shift.
