Job Summary
The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that janitorial staff cleans and maintains the client’s premises to the standards set by Flag Ship Holding Company.
Essential Functions- Supervise employees and help delegate operations schedule to ensure proper work area coverage.
- Evaluate performance of personnel and inspect assigned areas to ensure proper work performance. Provide hands‑on support and perform tasks when necessary, such as dust mopping, sweeping, stripping/refinishing, carpet scrubbing, servicing restrooms, window washing, etc.
- Find and define problems, resolve issues, and use these findings to make appropriate recommendations to management staff, other staff, and/or customer contacts to exercise continuous quality improvement and exceed customer expectations.
- Report any issues, concerns or discrepancies to Operations Manager/Operations Coordinator.
- Address customer concerns and inquiries and report any new or changing job/work orders.
- Track and evaluate purchasing activities, supply and equipment usage and repairs. Ensure appropriate labeling, dilution, and storage requirements are conducted in accordance with company, customer and OSHA standards.
- Provide on‑the‑job training for staff/employees to job‑specific tasks.
- Participate in company and customer training ensuring effective communication and distribution of information to supervisors, customers and employees.
- Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies, customer’s rules and regulations and applicable laws when needed.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment with constantly changing priorities and high customer demand.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to lead others and motivate people.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team; articulate and able to relate to people at all levels of an organization and possess excellent communication skills.
- Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word) plus Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish desired.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in the janitorial/facilities field.
- Fast paced office environment.
- Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks.
- High sense of urgency.
- Small office environment.
- Noise level in the work environment usually moderate.
- Exposed to normal office type environments and shop environments.
- Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.
- Clean DMV record.
- Pass criminal background screening.
Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 40 lbs. of office and facilities equipment. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
