Facilities Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) or 1st Shift

The Facilities Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) ensures that building infrastructure, utilities, and environmental controls operate reliably and safely while maintaining strict compliance with cleanroom standards, safety requirements, and internal procedures. This role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of critical facility systems to support continuous, high-quality operations in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, air handling units, HEPA filters, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, and process gas systems.
  • Support cleanroom environmental controls by monitoring and maintaining pressure differentials, temperature, humidity, and particle levels within specified limits.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a timely manner to minimize equipment and facility downtime.
  • Maintain and update maintenance records, logs, and documentation in accordance with ISO, GMP, and internal company policies.
  • Follow all cleanroom contamination control procedures, including proper gowning, sanitization, and cleaning protocols.
  • Respond promptly to facility alarms, excursions, and emergency situations, ensuring systems return to operational standards as quickly as possible.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to support cleanroom operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment installations, qualifications, and calibrations as required to support production and facility projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, including safe work practices and proper use of PPE.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed to support facility maintenance activities.
  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to internal stakeholders, addressing facility-related needs and concerns.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Facilities Technician or equivalent related role.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, filtration systems, and building utilities.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and control systems used in building and process environments.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and detailed maintenance procedures accurately.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, test instruments, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC, or cleanroom environments such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotech, or semiconductor settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical or trade school certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO cleanroom classifications and GMP regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and preventive maintenance programs is a plus.
  • OSHA safety training such as Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and PPE use is preferred.
  • Experience working in regulated environments (manufacturing, pharma, biotech, or semiconductor) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, and Production.
  • Strong customer service mindset when supporting internal stakeholders.
  • Vendor coordination or vendor management experience in a facilities or maintenance context.

Work Environment

This position is based in a cleanroom facility within a single building that operates under ISO and GMP standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with occasional on-call responsibilities to support critical facility needs. You will work around HVAC systems, air handling units, HEPA filtration, chilled water, compressed air, vacuum, and process gas systems, as well as Building Management Systems (BMS) and preventive maintenance tools.

The environment requires strict adherence to contamination control practices, including proper gowning, sanitization, and cleaning protocols. Work follows OSHA safety guidelines and company EHS programs, with appropriate use of PPE and safe work practices expected at all times.
