Position: DOT Driver (A & B)

Position Description

A DOT Driver operates a variety of equipment including semi-tractor with trailer, dump truck, water truck, etc.

Essential Job Functions
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE.
  • Responsible for daily shift validations.
  • Must possess a current and valid Driver License along with endorsements to comply with DOT requirements.
  • Acquire and maintain equipment specific certifications as required.
  • Perform and fill out pre-trip vehicle inspection before leaving the yard, checking all fluids, tires, lights, and signs as listed on pre-trip.
  • Perform monthly tool audits on equipment and ensure compliance (vehicle registration, fire extinguisher).
  • Ensure all required permits are complete and on site.
  • Follow and/or complete the Detailed Daily Work Plan (DDWP) and ensure crew actively participates, knows and follows each procedure.
  • Perform a job walk to identify all potential hazards around the working area (underground and overhead utilities) and take procedural actions to mitigate or eliminate them.
  • Responsible to load and unload material needed for each job.
  • Perform tasks assigned by PLW or Foreman such as operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate/drive all equipment and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Test the job site for atmospheric hazards such as H2S, oxygen deficiency or flammables with monitor.
  • Be actively involved in all safety processes including utilizing Stop Work Authority when necessary.
  • Develop knowledge of KSI SOPs and refer to the SOP Manual prior to each task.
  • Follow all KSI and customer policies and procedures.
  • Follow all applicable Federal, State and local driving laws.
  • Perform all physical and mental requirements listed.
  • Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Ability to read and write in English.
    • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English.
    • Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out process.
    • Knowledge of hauling and towing capacity (GVWR).
    • Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones, etc.).
    • Knowledge of binding/securing equipment and loads for travel.
    • Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA).
    • Ability to complete required safety training.
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of industry specific safety standards.
    Education and Experience

    Preferably 2-3 years of industry experience along with in-depth knowledge of equipment.

    Working Conditions

    The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based. Walking and working surfaces vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.

    Working Hours

    Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include 5-10’s and weekends. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
