Highway Construction Aid - Northern Nevada Locations

Job Overview

Highway Construction Aids will work under close supervision and perform unskilled tasks related to highway maintenance, construction, testing labs and equipment shops. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform physical tasks requiring moderate strength is required.

• Assist in routine maintenance duties, including maintaining pavement surface, shoulders, clear zones and associated roadways in good repair.
• Participate in summer betterment projects.
• Provide assistance in emergency operations.
• Perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The hours for these positions are subject to change depending on the needs of the appointing authority and may be five 8‑hour shifts or four 10‑hour shifts. These positions may require working in inclement weather.

• Understand and follow simple verbal and written instructions.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Perform moderate physical labor for extended periods of time.
• Use common hand and power tools.
• Possess a degree of proficiency sufficient to perform work independently.
