Custodial Worker
This position is with the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department. This is a part-time position, not to exceed 1,039 hours per fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties related to facility cleaning and maintenance.
Examples of Duties- This position may require working non-traditional shift hours, which may include early morning, afternoon, evening, late night, or swing shift.
- Availability to work on call, evenings, and weekends is required.
- Moves and arranges furniture and A/V equipment to set up rooms for meetings and special functions.
- Cleaning and sanitizing of hard floors, under bleachers, facility restrooms, auditorium floors, seats, windows, fixtures, mirrors and carpets. Empties trash and stocks supplies, etc.
- Operation of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers and carpet extractors.
- Removes litter and debris from facility walkways and grounds.
- Supervision and securing of facility.
- Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of work; drives City vehicles to work sites, transports materials and assists other staff as required.
- Provides customer service.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with contractors, public and City staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a High School education or GED Professional cleaning experience is helpful Hospitality industry experience is helpful Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Varies by Department. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained in active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment. Public Works Department:

Performing general maintenance work, individually or as a member of a crew, in various areas, depending on the function. Conditions of Employment:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Any City employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
Employees shall be required to complete Incident Command System training as a condition of continuing employment. New employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation which cost the new employee $47.00 and a drug screen which costs $36.50. Employment is contingent upon passing the background and the drug screen. Carson City participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS, with information from each applicant's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
