Job Description
The Army National Guard utilizes many forms of sophisticated equipment on and off the field. As a Special Electronic Devices Repairer, you will ensure that vital instruments and tools—such as night vision equipment, electronic distance and azimuth‑oriented devices, battlefield illumination devices, and nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices—are meticulously maintained and operational.
Responsibilities- Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators.
- Read technical diagrams and manuals.
- Replace parts.
- Ensure quality control measures.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and inspect equipment.
- Supervise and train other soldiers in the craft (advanced‑level).
- Interest in mathematics, problem solving, and electronic equipment repair.
- Strong attention to detail.
Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience needed for a civilian career with agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or the National Weather Service.
Job training for a Special Electronic Devices Repairer requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, followed by 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training is conducted in classroom settings, on equipment, and in the field under simulated combat conditions.
